About This Episode
Schadenfreude is defined as pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune. The recent news has brought this topic into the spotlight and, on today’s episode, Mitch Albom discusses this phenomenon with his guest, Barnard and Columbia University professor, Colin Leach. Professor Leach explains the difference between Schadenfreude and it’s lesser known cousin, Genugtuug, and how we can identify situations where we might gravitate toward finding pleasure in unfortunate circumstances ourselves.
Sad that there are people like this but there are. I work and know a few people like this. Just wrong.. You do something or something goes wrong and they are the first to laugh or comment . True people are jealous or envious. They feed on someones else’s problems. I feel that it was too bad that the President got Covid however he got it for a reason I believe. Carelessness yes. Maybe he needs to acquire some compassion for others that have died because of the virus.
