About This Episode
We are a culture that celebrates youth. But is being young really all it’s cracked up to be? As Morrie Schwartz said during one of his Tuesday interviews with host Mitch Albom, “I know what a misery youth is, so don’t tell me it’s so great…cause I know better.” For centuries, humans have chased after the Fountain of Youth. How to look younger, act younger, feel younger. But when we shine a spotlight on the young, we ignore the important wisdom of those who have lived long enough to acquire decades of knowledge and experience. So the next time you find yourself pining for the you that was you so long ago, celebrate instead the stripes you have earned along the way.
In my own mind I am still in my 30’s even though this year I turn 65. I feel sorry for the younger people. So much anxiety goes on and depression and suicides. That is terrible. The family unit is broken in so many cases . I do not have lots of family but what we have is what we have. Just a small gathering. Most are aging and have health issues ect..I hope to live a lot longer . That is why I loved working with elderly people when I was in my 30’s . They were filled with wisdom and it was good to bounce ideas off of them. They were all very supportive. It was a really good time then. Today’s generation should embrace us older folks instead of sometimes making you feel you do not know..
