Dear Mr. Albom,

I am a English teacher at an urban high school in Harrisburg, PA. My students are currently reading and analyzing “Tuesdays With Morrie.” Your book has enlightened my students and has given them an outlet. Some topics are not discussed in a high school curriculum, however they are very beneficial to personal awareness and growth. “Tuesdays With Morrie” has given us the opportunity to bond and grow in these areas. My students wanted to share some of their thoughts and opinions with you.

Sincerely,

Lisa Menegat
English Teacher
John Harris High School Harrisburg, PA

Dear Mitch,

I read your book, “Tuesdays With Morrie” in my English Honors class. We started reading this book when I was going through a really rough time. No one died of an illness, but my best friend (also my brother) went to the army. I felt really lonely and basically spent a lot of time feeling bad for myself. Your book made me realize that I can’t go on through life stuck in the comfort of my big brother, that eventually he has to grow up and be his own man. Same with me, I have to grow up and become my own woman. Thank you for writing this book, it taught me that the most influential people are in your life for a short time, but their lessons will always be with you.

Sincerely,

Imani Collins

Dear Mitch,

In my 10th grade English class, at John Harris High School, we are currently reading your intriguing book, “Tuesdays With Morrie”. This book has numerous life lessons compiled into every inspiring sentence. “Tuesdays With Morrie” is teaching me so much about how I look at life. The book is making me slow down and take everyday with ease, joy and appreciation. I came to realize that anyone can get diagnosed with a life threatening disease at any moment, so we should not wait until that scenario may or may not appear and just live with the compassion and insight that Morrie has obtained.

Sincerely,

Daniel Strawbridge

Dear Mitch Albom,

My name is Ciera Bruce. In my 10th grade English Honors class, we are reading your book, “Tuesdays With Morrie”. I like reading your book, because it reminds me of my mom. My mother passed away last year in July. Her disease is similar to Morrie’s, it’s called multiple sclerosis. I am 17 years old, and she got sick when I was 5 years old. As the years passed, the disease progressed. When my class first started reading the book, I didn’t want to read it. As we kept on reading the book, I started to understand why my classmates liked it. Also, I like how Morrie showed love for the small things. Your book has given me a better understanding of life and death.

Sincerely,

Ciera Bruce

Dear Mitch Albom,

First off, I wanted to tell you that you wrote a great book. Also, I’m sorry for your loss of Mr. Morrie Schwartz. My name is John Holmes Jr. I live in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and I attend Harrisburg High School. I am a young athlete. I can relate to your loss. My grandfather died two months ago. I don’t know what disease killed him, but he loss one of his lungs. He then had to use this machine to help him breathe. I really miss him because he gave me a lot of advice, just like Morrie did with you. I hope you get this letter and write back. Yours Truly, John Holmes

Dear Mitch Albom,

When I first started reading the book I didn’t see myself actually wanting to continue reading. Once I kept on reading, it kept on getting better and better. This book made me realize that there are more strategies in life. Before I started reading, I didn’t really look a life as how I look at it now. I know I have made mistakes in the past, and I learned from my mistakes and learned to forgive. I had never forgiven people. Since I read the book, it changed my way of life. There are more people in this life with problems that are worse than mine. If they can stay happy, then I know I can. I stopped getting mad at the smallest things and learned how to live, because you never know when your last day is going to come. Always live your life to the fullest! My name is Asia Armstead, and I’m so happy that you wrote a book that inspires the young and old to never let life get you down. Your book is so inspirational, and it helped me see life from a different perspective.

Thank you,

Asia Armstead

Dear Mitch,

I really enjoyed your book, “Tuesdays With Morrie”. It made me view a lot of things differently. The main things it made me think about is the appreciation of life and love. Nothing in this world can compare to happiness like love! You made me realize that material things don’t really mean anything. After reading the book, I wanted to do something good and memorable for people all around my community. Understanding that Morrie was sick, and could still change the lives of people really influenced my life. It motivated me and gave me much encouragement and inspiration to be able to influence others as well, to pass on the message and morals of Morrie. Your book affected me in so many ways, and I’m sure it affected millions of other people as well. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Shakora Chisolm

Dear Mr. Mitch Albom,

First off, I’m sorry for your loss of Mr. Morrie Schwartz. My name is, Mustafa Ysa, I am a 15-years-old Asian-American male, and I attend Harrisburg High in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I am writing you today to explain to you how much you influenced my life. I can relate to you, during your experience with your dying professor. My father has chronic back-pain. Everyday he suffers in agony & pain and sometimes I just feel like he can’t last much longer. I want you to know how much I respect you, even though, you once intended to ‘drop by’, you stayed there for Morrie until the very end. You learned so many things from him. I did learn many things from him also, through your book. You don’t have to respond to this letter. I just hope you get to read this and significantly understand my respect for you!

Sincerely your fan,

Mustafa Ysa

Dear Mitch Albom,

In my 10th grade English Honors class, we are reading your book, “Tuesdays With Morrie”. In my opinion, this book is very influential, it can change lives in a positive way. This book showed me that you should not only be afraid of death, but to also, love yourself before you can love someone else. People should look at this book as an ‘eye opener’. Morrie was a great teacher. He cared about his students, because he wanted them to succeed. I’m glad that we’re reading, “Tuesdays With Morrie”, because it shows me how much I should appreciate my teacher, Ms. Menegat. She keeps us on task and is always on our back about passing. I see her as a female version of Morrie. They both try their best to make sure someone else is okay. In addition, Morrie had a great sense of humor. He didn’t let death get to him. When he was little, his mother died, and I can relate to that because my grandmother died when I was young. This book changed the way I look at life.

Sincerely,

Alexis Jackson

Dear Mitch,

My name is Aaliyah Singletary, and I attend John Harris High School. In my English class, we’re reading your book, “Tuesdays With Morrie”. I find the book quite inspirational. When you saw your old college professor on national TV dying, you didn’t turn the channel, you did something about it. You thought back to the promise you made years ago, and finally decided to act on it, I commend you for that. I don’t know if I could’ve made the decision you made. I would’ve felt guilty and angry with myself. I would’ve known that what happened to Morrie wasn’t my fault, but deep down inside of me, I would’ve felt responsible. Morrie was a trooper for smiling, even though, he knew he was dying. Even though, now Morrie is deceased, I still feel as though he’s somewhere making a difference and putting a smile on someone’s face. I would just like to thank you for writing this book, because without it, I think my eyes would still be closed to the wonders of life.

Sincerely,

Aaliyah Singletary

Dear Mitch Albom,

I am currently in my 10th grade English Honors class, we are reading one of your many amazing books, “Tuesdays With Morrie”, I can truly say I love this book, and it will most definitely be added to my ‘shelf of favorites’. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure if I was going to be interested in this book, but to my own surprise, I liked the book from the very first page. This book taught me that life never goes the way we ever plan it. We make mistakes and sometimes, do realize the effect they have, I’m a strong believer in the saying, “No matter how bad you think your life is, there’s always someone else who has it harder”. In a way, your book represents this perfectly. I commend you on your fabulous work and I want you to know that you are an inspiration to me and many others.

Sincerely,

Sonnette Jackson

Dear Mitch Albom,

“Tuesdays With Morrie” has changed my view on life. It has taught me not to take the little things for granted. It has showed me that even though my life has had some ups and downs, that I shouldn’t let the downs define my life. “Tuesdays With Morrie” has inspired me to live the life that I want and not a life that follows the “crowd”; one that shows who I really am. This book has opened my eyes to the real world. It showed me that someone else has lived a life similar to mine, but has succeeded. “Tuesdays With Morrie” has also made me realize that family and friends are one of life’s joys and that I should not take them for granted. I thank you for this gift, this inspiration.

A beloved fan,

Dear Mitch Albom,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write about Morrie. This book has been a great life lesson for me and my classmates since we first started reading it. The way this book has helped me is that it opened a new eye for me to see the world in a bigger view. I understand Morrie’s thoughts, that we as people need to stop living behind bars and start to love each other. At first, I felt like loving each other would make me feel weak, but he said it would actually make you stronger. That was the biggest thing that he opened my eyes to. Thank you, Mitch Albom, for a wonderful book!

Sincerely,

Natrone Halty

Dear Mitch Albom,

After reading your book, “Tuesdays With Morrie”, I thought it was a great book that made me look at life and people differently. This book inspires people to take life more seriously. I learned that you shouldn’t be depressed when you know you’re dying. Morrie stayed strong and accepted the fact that he was dying. I also enjoyed the book because it helped me understand that I shouldn’t waste time worrying about meaningless things in life and focus more on my family and me.

Sincerely,

Quintin Burke

Dear Mitch,

I am absolutely in love with your book, “Tuesdays With Morrie”. Your book had me so emotionally attached which never happened to me before. It really made me view life from a different perspective. If someone asked me what would I do if I was in Morrie’s shoes, I really wouldn’t know what to say. I am astonished at how Morrie stayed so calm and how he accepted that his lifestyle was soon about to change, and for that, I look up to him, even though, he is no longer with us in person. I really appreciate you for writing this book and teaching me a life lesson. I love all of your books and I think you’re an amazing author and person!

Sincerely,
