Mitch Albom is teaming up with Mercedes-Benz of St. Clair Shores and Cooper-Standard Automotive for a charity golf tournament at the DETROIT GOLF CLUB benefitting S.A.Y. DETROIT and Wayne State University College of Nursing. S.A.Y. Detroit is the charity Mitch started during Super Bowl XL week to help improve the lives of Detroit’s homeless community.
The North Course will host the Competitive Stroke Play Format where players will compete for two spots in the Mercedes-Benz Championship in January 2010 hosted at the Kapalua Resort in Maui, Hawaii. The South Course will host the Fun Scramble Format.
The tournament begins at 8:00 a.m. The entry fee includes a round of golf breakfast, lunch, admission to the award reception as well as an assortment of player gifts. The Fun Scramble fee is $250 and the Competitive Stroke Play is $325.
Additional features for the tournament include a Hole-In-One competition with the prize of a 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK. Mercedes-Benz of St. Clair Shores and Cooper Standard have raised over $400,000 for the S.A.Y. Detroit over the past 5 years.
Mitch will broadcast his WJR (AM-760) show, "The Mitch Albom Show,” from the site and join golfers at the post-round reception.
