A 9/11 Hero: Welles Crowther

Sep 11, 2011 | News | 0 comments

Alison and Jeff Crowther, parents of  Welles, share their pride and pain in losing their son in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks. An equities trader on the South Tower’s 104th floor, Crowther helped dozens of people to safety on September 11. Called “the Man in the Red Bandanna,” his training as a volunteer firefighter helped him take control, lead people to safety, and carry out those who needed his help. His body was found in March 2002, alongside several firefighters and emergency workers in a suspected command post in the South Tower lobby.
