In September, Hospice of Michigan will host the Grand Rapids premiere of “Ernie,” which recounts the life of beloved Detroit Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell. The play, written by renowned author, playwright, broadcast personality and award-winning columnist Mitch Albom, is a tale about living life to its fullest, with memorable baseball moments woven throughout featuring actual footage from historic baseball moments. Tiger fans get a glimpse of the time that Ernie met the Great Bambino and Ty Cobb. They’ll witness how he “recreated” games in his early days, and what was behind his broadcasts of the Tigers’ 1968 and 1984 World Series.
Blue Care Network of Michigan brings the West Michigan community an exclusive 12-show run of the play that has never before traveled outside Detroit’s City Theatre. Tickets go on sale Monday, June 25 at 10am through Ticketmaster.
