A TIME TO HELP 
A Time To Help was established in 1997 as a means of galvanizing the people of Detroit to volunteer on a regular basis. A Time To Help has staged more than 100 monthly projects ranging from building houses, delivering meals, beautifying city streets, running adoption fairs, repairing homeless shelters, packing food, and hosting an annual Christmas party to a shelter for battered women.
Albom and radio co-host Ken Brown lead each project and try to use the group as a catalyst to increase volunteerism

Now in its 13th year, A Time To Help is proud to continue our tradition of volunteer projects across metro Detroit. We continue to plan challenging and satisfying monthly endeavors and look forward to having you join us. A Time to Help Event– Project -“Be a Valentine to a Senior”

Project: Volunteers will join with Haviland Elementary School and senior center members to pack and assemble more than 500 emergency meals for homebound seniors. Click here for more details
RECENT "A TIME TO HELP" EVENTS 
- January 30, 2010: The Hub Warehouse: Volunteers sorted thousands of donated canned food items to feed those in need.
- December 5, 2009: 19th Annual Time to Help Holiday Party at the Booth Evangeline Shelter
- November 7, 2009: Lighthouse of Oakland County: Volunteers helped "spruce up" Lighthouse properties
September 12, 2009: World Medical Relief: volunteers helped sort and package medical supplies for the international program - August 29, 2009: Cass Park: volunteers helped beautify the park by cleaning up garbage and painting.
- July 25th, 2009: Arts and Scraps : Volunteers prepared materials, packing kits and organized storage areas at the Arts and Scraps Warehouse.
- June 13, 2009: Christian Guidance Center: Volunteers painted water-damaged rooms at the center. The CGC provides substance abuse counseling and transitional housing.
- May 16, 2009: Greening of Detroit: Volunteers helped the Greening of Detroit plant 45 street trees near the Guyton Elementary School.
- April 11, 2009: Gleaners Food Bank: Volunteers packed and assembled food boxes at the Gleaners, a community food bank. Gleaners collects, warehouses, repacks and distributes many millions of pounds of food for over 400 local partners.
- February 14, 2009: Valentine's Day Edition: "Time to Help" volunteers delivered Valentine's Day cookies to area elder living centers to let them know they are not forgotten about during the holiday season.
- December 6, 2008: Holiday Party at Booth Shelter: Every year "Time to Help" hosts the annual Christmas party for over 150 homeless women and children at a local Detroit shelter. With over 100 volunteers, there is a live band, clowns, facepainters, caricature artists, games, arts and crafts, a manicure room for mom's, teen activity room, balloons, decorations, food and beverage, and of course a visit from Santa!
