The Somerset Collection in Troy, Michigan, is one of only a handful of luxury regional shopping centers in the country. Owned and managed by The Forbes Company of Southfield, Michigan, Somerset Collection offers 180 designer and lifestyle stores and restaurants and is anchored by four department stores.
Since its 1969 opening, Somerset has been expanded and remodeled several times and today covers 1.443 million square feet. The 524,700-square-foot Somerset South, anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, is connected to the 918,300-square-foot Somerset North via an enclosed, 700-foot long, moving skybridge spanning Big Beaver Road. The Detroit area flagship stores for Nordstrom and Macy’s are located at Somerset North.
The interior spaces of the entire Somerset Collection are resplendent with polished marble, fine woodwork, soaring atria, captivating fountains and fine sculpture, including the iconic, Finnish-made Sorvikivi Floating Stone fountain, while the exterior is clad in handsome Cranbrook brick and Mankato stone, and multi-storied, chrome-edged glass entrances.
Of Somerset Collection’s more than 180 stores, nearly 60 are exclusive to Michigan. The center features some of the most coveted luxury brands, as well as innovate lifestyle retailers whose Somerset locations often serve as regional flagships.
Some of the stores found only at Somerset Collection include Gucci, Tiffany & Co., Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Max Mara, Tory Burch, Salvatore Ferragamo, Crate & Barrel, Henri Bendel, Barneys New York Co-Op, Herve Leger, Basler, and Intermix.
Dining options include three sit down restaurants — Capital Grille, J. Alexander’s, California Pizza Kitchen — and the casual Peacock Cafés on Somerset North, and Brio Tuscan Grille, P.F. Chang’s and the Café at Neiman Marcus on Somerset South. Coffee bars and candy shops are located throughout the entire Somerset complex.

Emagine Entertainment’s affiliates own and operate Cinema Hollywood in Birch Run MI, as well as Emagine Novi, Emagine Canton, Emagine Woodhaven and Emagine Rochester Hills. In May, Emagine will add its newest theatre – Emagine Royal Oak which will include 10 state-of-the-art movie theatres and Star Lanes, an upscale bowling center, a full service restaurant and bar, and a banquet facility. With the addition of Royal Oak, Emagine will operate theatres with a combined 15,000+seats and 76 screens. Emagine enjoys the honor and distinction of being named “Best Movie Theatres” for several years running by the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit News, and WDIV.
Emagine is a recognized innovator in the theatrical exhibition industry having been the first theatre chain in the world to convert to 100% digital projection. In 1997, Cinema Hollywood was the first theatre in Michigan to open with all stadium seating. Paul Glantz, the founder and president of Emagine Entertainment has been interviewed on CNN concerning his views and opinions on the operation of luxury theatres. Emagine has created 5th Avenue, an all luxury auditorium in Emagine Novi. It also offers luxury seating sections in some auditoriums, reserved seating, and other upscale amenities such as valet parking. All Emagine theatres offer adult patrons the option of enjoying their favorite cocktail, beer or wine. A two drink maximum is strictly enforced in its theatre operations. Auditoriums are equipped with low light surveillance cameras as a further enforcement measure.
