How A Rabbi And A Reverend Helped Mitch Albom Rediscover Life's Spiritual Dimension
By DAVID HOLAHAN | Hartford Courant | November 1 2009
In his latest sure-to-be bestseller "Have a Little Faith," Mitch Albom, author of "Tuesdays with Morrie," describes his growing involvement with two men of faith: his rabbi from the old neighborhood, Albert Lewis, and the Rev. Henry Covington, former convict and drug dealer turned evangelist at a down-and-out inner-city congregation. Click here to read more
Q & A with Mitch Albom
Award-winning author's relationship with rabbi and pastor leads him to "Have A Little Faith"
By Judie Jacobson | The Jewish Ledger
The road to Mitch Albom's new best-selling book "Have A Little Faith" began with an unusual request: an 82-year-old rabbi from Albom's old hometown asks him to deliver his eulogy. Feeling unworthy, Albom insists on understanding the man better, which throws him back into a world of faith he'd left years ago. Meanwhile, closer to home, he becomes involved with a Detroit pastor - a reformed drug dealer and convict - who preaches to the poor and homeless in a decaying church. Moving between their worlds, Albom observes how these very different men employ faith similarly in fighting for survival. Click here to read more
To celebrate the release of Have A Little Faith, Mitch hosted two launch events that raised funds for local charities dedicated to helping the homeless and fostering communities of support. That objective continues as Mitch tours across the nation—42 events in 30 cities—visiting and lecturing at synagogues, churches, mosques, schools, community centers, and soup kitchens. These centers of worship and of community carry on the message at the heart of Have a Little Faith—the value of faith and the need for community in difficult times.
