But once a year they shed their pen-and-pencil clutching personas and become rock stars, complete with roadies, groupies and a wicked cool tour bus.
His January 2009 article--"And Yet..." on the Courage of Detroit in Sports Illustrated has been nominated for a National Magazine Award!
Last month, A Hole in the Roof Foundation announced its next project: rebuild the Caring and Sharing Mission and Orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The Campaign for Haiti's Tomorrow would raise the money needed to make essential repairs that will address the fundamental needs of the children at the orphanage: bathrooms, kitchens, showers, dorms, water reservoir, unstable walls and crumbling ceilings. A budget was set, a deadline was marked.

TIME: 9:00 a.m. – Noon
LOCATION: Forgotten Harvest in Oak Park, MI
PROJECT: Volunteers will be repacking bulk food into family and individual size portions to be given to those in need.

Bag A Cause, a hand-made bag company, from Detroit, MI, has a new cause: “A Hole in the Roof Foundation”

On Saturday, February 13th, A Time to Help met at the Waterford Senior Center in Waterford, MI for their monthly volunteer project.
As of Wednesday, February 24, A Hole in the Roof Foundation reached 60% of it's goal to raise $70,000 to fund essential repairs at the Caring and Sharing Mission and Orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Over 400 gifts totaling approximately $42,000 were raised through online, phoned-in, and mailed-in contributions!
