Mitch,
As a lover of books and words (and hockey!) you have always been a person I have admired and in the 1990's all four of your column books sat on my bookcase. Then one day while perusing Media Play book section I kept being drawn to this new Albom book again and again. I didn't want a sport story...I needed something else. My best friend had just been diagnosed with ALS and needed something to sooth my soul. The rest of the story is pretty apparent. So began my love of Albom. Again and again, your timing has been right on. "Five People" right after a losing someone else close. "One More Day" days before my husband had a lung removed. (We got two years not just one more day!) And now "Faith" while I am still struggling with his death. And while I know the way is through "Faith" and giving, I really need to thank you for realizing "smart" was not enough and helping so many people from so many walks of life. You've come a long way baby.
And we are so so grateful. (And where is the spell check??)

Well, I am so flattered and grateful for your post. I can't take any credit for the timing of the books - only can say that those issues were important to me at the time as well and I'm very glad that they were timely for you. I try when I write a book not just to ask myself "is this something that interests me?" but also "is this something that might serve as comfort or wisdom to someone else?" I'm glad in your case it was. Thank you so very much for reading my stories.
