I know--it is really great to have the team seen as athletes, and to be given both a national and global stage (and to finally have their home country noticing!). But haven't we been here before, in 1999? Will this last? Wasn't there a time when Mia Hamm was one of the most talked about athletes, of any sport? Their success earned them a league, which managed to fold a few years later.

Hopefully the recent popularity translates into real butts in the seats for the current women's league.
